 The University of Tennessee at Knoxville is the flagship university of the state of Tennessee.

This region has an outstanding public university and community college system, as well as many excellent private colleges and schools. You are also within half a day driving distance of a number of the top-rated colleges and universities in the United States. The University of Tennessee at Knoxville

The University of Tennessee offers high quality instruction, research, and outreach programs throughout the state of Tennessee. Undergraduate, graduate, and professional education merge seamlessly with the exploration of new knowledge and dissemination of practical information and technology to the state and its citizens. With 26,000 students in Knoxville, UTK provides a wide range of academic and professional degrees from the bachelor to the doctorate level. Maryville College

Maryville College is a private, four year institution renowned for its liberal arts education.  Founded in 1819 by Rev. Isaac Anderson, the school has long been dedicated to training young people to be responsible citizens and leaders.  Its acclaimed first year program has been designed to acclimate students to college life, and the long-standing tradition of senior theses teaches students to work independently.  In partnership with the cities of Maryville and Alcoa, the school is constructing a civic arts facility called the Clayton Center for the Arts.

Carson-Newman College

Carson-Newman College, in Jefferson City, is another liberal arts college and offers both undergraduate and graduate programs.  It is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Association and offers graduate training in ministry.  Undergraduate enrollment is about 2100 students.

Pellissippi State Technical Community College

Pellissippi State, located in West Knox County, has 7000 students and a diverse offering of subject matter. The college has three branches, at Division Street in Knoxville, on Magnolia Avenue in Knoxville, and in Alcoa, which serves Blout County and Maryville, Tennessee.

Walters State Community CollegeThree community colleges are located in the Great Smokies-Knoxville Region.

Walters State Community College, with a main campus in Morristown, Tennessee, has branches in Sevierville, Greenville, and Cocke County. Walters State has over 6000 students.

Roane State Community College

Roane State Community College, with a main campus in Harriman, Tennessee, has branches in our region at Lenoir City (Loudon County) and Oak Ridge and a health sciences center in West Knox County.  Roane State has approximately 5000 students.
